Position description for Program Chair :


The Program Chair shall be responsible for soliciting submissions for the Annual Meeting, reviewers for those submissions, and coordinating an efficient blind-review process in which each submission is read by at least three reviewers as well as the Program Chair, and for making final decisions about the program, roundtable and poster presentations, sessions, symposia, session co-sponsorship and other duties relevant to putting on a high-quality set of sessions at the Annual Meeting.

Dear members of the Philosophical Studies in Education SIG, We hope this email finds you well. We are writing with a few SIG related updates. First, thank you to all who submitted and reviewers. We anticipate an exciting program this spring. We are so grateful to the care and attention that reviewers put into responding to submissions. Philosophical Studies in Education SIG Chair Second, Rebecca Taylor will be finishing her service as SIG Chair and Cara Furman will be moving into that role from Program Chair. Thank you Rebecca for your thoughtful and generous leadership. This leaves an opening for SIG chair. This is a two-year term as Program Chair (which leads to a two-year term as Chair). Per the AERA bylaws: "The Program Chair shall be responsible for soliciting submissions for the Annual Meeting, reviewers for those submissions, and coordinating an efficient blind-review process in which each submission is read by at least three reviewers as well as the Program Chair, and for making final decisions about the program, roundtable and poster presentations, sessions, symposia, session co-sponsorship and other duties relevant to putting on a high-quality set of sessions at the Annual Meeting." New Website Third, we want to alert you to our revamped SIG website. A big thank you to Elias Hage for creating this. One of our key initiatives has been to offer more information to support scholars as they put together and review submissions. Please consider submitting a proposal to AERA's Philosophical Studies in Education SIG for the 2023 Annual Meeting in Chicago. The deadline for proposals is July 27th at 11:59 pm. We hope to represent the diversity of our field and welcome submissions from a broad range of philosophical traditions under the wide net of philosophy and education.
